A shocking revelation has emerged from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Dentistry, leaving the academic community in a state of turmoil. The dean of dentistry, Dr. Anil Kishen, has been placed on leave while the university investigates a deeply troubling matter: the use of antisemitic and discriminatory images in his course materials.

Dr. Kishen has admitted to using these images without fully understanding their impact. One image, shared by Jewish advocacy group B'nai Brith Canada, depicted a figure seemingly wrapped in an Israeli flag and rope, with a head painted in Palestinian flag colors. This image was accompanied by a reference to the "strangulation theory" of dental pulp, an unsettling juxtaposition. Another illustration showed a man with a hooked nose swimming in a pool of money, labeled "immunity."
Vice-President and Provost Trevor Young stated that Dr. Kishen has taken responsibility for his actions, removing the images from his course materials and offering a direct apology to his class and faculty. He has also committed to enhancing his understanding and awareness of antisemitism and other forms of discrimination, and to ensuring an inclusive learning environment for all.
B'nai Brith Canada, however, is not satisfied. They have demanded accountability from the university, stating that "there is no excuse" for Dr. Kishen's actions. They argue that our students deserve better and will not rest until our campuses are safe and welcoming for all.
