M6 Traffic Update: Massive Crash and Fire Spark Long Queues
Traffic on the M6 is currently at a standstill due to a major incident near Knutsford. The crash, involving an HGV and multiple vehicles, has resulted in a chain reaction, with one car catching fire and flipping over. Despite the severity, the occupants of the burning vehicle managed to escape without injury.
The Cheshire Fire Service has confirmed that firefighters are on the scene, working to bring the blaze under control and ensure the area is safe. The North West Ambulance Service is also in attendance, treating one casualty.
According to the Fire Service, lane four on the motorway has reopened to start moving the traffic. However, three of the four lanes on the M6 northbound between J18 Middlewich and J19 Tabley Interchange are still closed, causing delays of up to 30 minutes.
Traffic cameras show huge queues on the motorway, with motorists facing significant delays. The National Highways have advised drivers to avoid the area if possible.
The Express has contacted the North West Ambulance Service for a response, and we will update you as soon as we hear from them. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
